Animation Project

For our animation, we wanted to do comedy mixed with sports. We chose to do a track theme for it because we thought we could get the humor to come across. Some aspects in our animation, we wanted to use things that cartoons use because we thought that would be a good way to get the humor part across. It worked out well because we were able to split up the scenes equally between the two of us. We had background that we used multiple times. When creating the figures we wanted the main character to be this small skinny guy compared the the rest of his track friends. In the track scene, we made the rest of the guy taller and buffer. When they exited the scene we made them shuffle across like how comics do. We added sound effects to some part of the animation and not the entire thing. We didn’t want to get too carried away with the sound.

Our protagonist keeps failing at different event. When he does the shot putt, he doesn’t throw it very far. Then when he goes to the hurdles, he can barely get over them. But he doesn’t give up. Instead he pole vaults over the final hurdles. He goes flying over up. In the final scene, we see that he finds a flyer for being a “stunt man”. We thought this would be funny since he can barely do simple track and field events. That is where the humor comes into play.

We wanted our character to be able to overcome perseverance and to keep trying. We didn't want him to just give up.

Our group worked really well together. We knew our parts and got them done on time. We helped each other out and asked questions when we were sure. We communicated through email when we weren't in class.

  3. The movement of the figures was successful and I really enjoyed the music that was added in. There was some slow spots at the beginning with the coach talking, but it was fluid from that part forward. Good job!

  4. The animations were really good, I like how you really captured the persons movement. The concept of the animation was very clear throughout the entire animation and the sound was a little off. The cartoon graphic was very nice and the speed really added to the animation. I would give it a 4.8/5, just because of the sound.

  5. I really liked your animation it was clear and creative and also funny! Props for the nice smooth movement of the man!! The only thing is that the background should be cropped a little bit. 4.5 stars!

  6. I feel that your idea was very creative and your group defiantly accomplished your idea. I would defiantly label this as a comedy animation. I really enjoyed how much your main character was animated. The way that his body moved made sense to how a human would move. The only part of this animation that I felt was kinda awkward was when the coach was talking to the group and your main character stood sideways with his arms still up like he was walking and the rest of the group was facing forward. I feel that during this section you should have turned the main character to face the coach like the rest of the group. However, I really enjoyed how animated all of your backgrounds were and all the sound effects that you added. I would give this animation 4.5 stars.

  7. the detail on the character and the perspective of the shots was fantastic, although the character models were a little rough. I was unsure what was happening in the opening scene but the end was pretty funny. Overall pretty good!

  8. The animation and graphics were spot on. It was genuinely funny and fit the theme well. I wish that some parts in the opening did not drag on for as long, but overall it was an enthralling story. The ending flowed together well and there were a lot of techniques used here to change perspectives and make the animation look cleaner for certain animation sequences-5 stars.
